Rene graduated magna cum laude from University of Tampa in 2001 with a Bachelor of Science degree and earned her Juris Doctor degree from Suffolk University Law School in 2009. She is admitted to practice in the Commonwealth of Massachusetts, the state of Rhode Island, the United States District Courts of Massachusetts and Rhode Island, and the United States Court of Appeals for the First Circuit.
Prior to joining Menard Lawyers, Attorney Moniz worked for a midsize litigation firm and represented individuals and corporations in an array of civil litigation matters, including disputes involving contracts, real estate, trusts and estates, construction, employment, land use, zoning, and insurance. In addition to her extensive litigation experience, Attorney Moniz is actively involved in the community. She serves as Secretary of the Buttonwood Park Zoological Society in New Bedford, Massachusetts, Secretary of the Old Rochester Youth Baseball League and President of the South Coast Business Alliance, a nonprofit organization that raises funds for at-risk youth programs in Southeastern Massachusetts. In addition, she volunteers with Discovering Justice as a legal mentor for the Mock Appeal After School Program, where she meets with middle schoolers to explore the judicial system, learn case analysis and development, and practice the skills needed to persuasively argue a case in front of a judge.
Attorney Moniz was recognized as one of 2018’s “40 Under Forty” in Providence Business News. She is a member of the New Bedford Bar Association, the Massachusetts Bar Association, the Massachusetts Women’s Bar Association, the Rhode Island Bar Association, and the Rhode Island Women’s Bar Association; she recently joined the Barnstable County Bar Association.
